It’s a new year with a new colour: Green! Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017 is a fresh shade of yellow-green dubbed “Greenery”. We are loving this colour – not only is it bright, zesty and fun, it also inspires ideas around nature and “going green” – an important theme for 2017! You can find out more about the colour on the Pantone website here:

We’ve had a lot of fun over the last few weeks creating colour-themed flat-lay images of various art and stationery supplies from our store – you may have seen them on our Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, and if not we have included them in the gallery below. Often inspiration comes from the most unexpected places and we hope that our colour-themed photos will inspire you in one way or another! While Greenery may be the colour of the year – it may not be your colour of the year, so go ahead and find the colour that speaks to you! Keep reading below the gallery for more ways to be inspired.

Colour is a magical thing and can be so important to create a mood, communicate information or express emotions. There are also endless options for colour combinations – for some fresh ideas why don’t you check out this awesome website with tons of examples of various colour combos:

Now on to the other aspect of “green” – here at The Deckle Edge, we are big on recycling and up-cycling! We use paper off-cuts to roll around paper bought in-store, as well as to create the ever-popular “off-cut pads” which we sell for a bargain. Boxes from product deliveries are either flattened and recycled, or reused for large customer orders and sales. We try to reuse and recycle wherever we can – we even put old boxes and tubes to good use last year for our Back to School display! It is so important now, more than ever, to be environmentally conscious. We encourage you to reuse, recycle and up-cycle in your creations too! Find some inspiration here:

Whatever your colour of the year may be, we wish you an inspired and creative 2017! Share your creations with us on social media – whether it be images of your art, your stationery and supplies or scenes from our stores, we’d love to see what you get up to!
