Bid for Hope: Silent Auction of Prints by The Printing Girls

Join us for a special silent auction of prints donated by The Printing Girls for our exhibition bid for HOPE. Each piece has been generously given by the artist to support this meaningful cause. The minimum bid is R50, and the highest bid placed for each artwork will be the winning bid. There are no counter bids, so we encourage you to bid your best from the start, knowing that your offer not only secures a beautiful artwork but also contributes directly to making a difference.

All proceeds will be donated to HopeTown, a community organisation that provides care, education and practical support to vulnerable people, bringing dignity and hope where it is needed most. Payment for winning bids must be made via EFT. Winners will be emailed the bank details once the auction closes. Artworks must be collected in store, or you are welcome to arrange your own courier at your own cost.

We extend heartfelt thanks to each artist who has donated their work, making it possible to raise funds and share hope through art. Please also take advantage of the Print & Ink SALE running through October

Korien Sander

Korien Sander

Using text in my work comes from my life-long love of books and the libraries where I grew up. And all my work connects to text in some way, whether a word, phrase, poem, or a book. The colour blue reminds me of water and the calm that I find when I am held in the quiet. Blue is also a reminder of the ongoing reality of living with ill health.

I am an active member of the printmakers collective, The Printing Girls, who have been invaluable in my self-directed education as printmaker and textile artist. I have participated in group exhibitions at David Krut Projects, Gallery 2, White River Gallery, the Association of Arts Pretoria, Stilbaai Gallery and The Art Room.

that go beyond conventional printmaking and that invite the viewer to broaden their own thinking about the natural world and its commodification, and where places of serenity, solace and serendipitous insight are increasingly hard to access.

Holmes left a corporate career in 2012, now an artist. In 2021 she completed a postgraduate diploma in fine art at Michaelis School of Fine Art, UCT. She is active in the South African art landscape – exhibiting, founded Open Studios Kommetjie in 2018 and an active member of The Printing Girls. from 2006 to 2019, where she also led community-focused workshops aimed at youth development through art. In 2019, she joined the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town as the Senior Printmaking Technician, where she
supports undergraduate and post graduate students in a wide range of printmaking
methods including lithography, woodcut, screenprinting, drypoint, and linocut to
mention a few.
In addition to her academic role, she co-facilitates professional workshops through
the Africa South Art Initiative (ASAI), helping local artists expand their printmaking
skills. As a practicing artist, Madelize creates layered, meditative prints that often
draw inspiration from botanical forms and natural textures. Her work is deeply
informed by process, material exploration, and a commitment to the tradition of print.

beasts into fantastical endeavours. Her
work challenges one to reconnect with this intimate and beautiful space; to stop, to
listen, to suspend time, even if for a fleeting moment.
Vicki’s work often plays in a liminal space that expresses the realisation that the
natural world is not separate; that we are responsible for maintaining our shared
environment and honouring the relationships between beings.
When not behind the easel, Victoria can be found pottering in her permaculture
garden, conjuring up a tongue-scorching chilli sauce or running after a wayward
chicken. She also holds morning oil and mixed media art classes at her Cape
Southern Suburbs home studio @St Catherine Studio as well as ‘Art and Soul
Creative Reconnection Retreats’ in South West France.

Emma Thompson

Becoming a member of The Printing Girls this year has opened my creative world to incredibly generous and inspiring community.

My work is inspired by nature and my faith; the beauty of our country and the resilience of the people who live in it. I believe that beauty and creativity are essential to the human soul and in
my own small way I try to communicate this through my art.

I love the detail that can be achieved in printing and that as an indirect method that there is always the element of surprise.

I have participated in group exhibitions at The Tina Skukan Gallery, Kaross Art and in several small exhibitions in Pretoria and Limpopo.

Sanet Visser

Dedicated to both her own practice and to nurturing others, Sanet has facilitated workshops at the Rupert Museum, Butterfly Art Project, Imibala Trust, and De Hoop Primary School in Somerset West. In 2004, she founded SA Art, an organisation supporting emerging visual artists, which was recognised as a finalist in the South African Nedbank Arts and Culture Trust Awards.

Raised on a farm, Sanet’s art is deeply influenced by the discipline, patience, and endurance of farming life. For her, art is therapy, a message of the heart, and a way of documenting life’s journey. Always exploring new mediums, she finds her greatest fulfilment in guiding others and witnessing their growth. Each workshop, artwork, or exhibition is an act of faith and obedience to her creative calling.
