Job Title: Full-time Retail Sales Assistant
Join our large and reputable art and stationery store, where you’ll play a key role in customer service and supporting day-to-day operations. This is a great opportunity for those with a creative background looking to gain hands-on retail experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service: Greet and assist customers, providing product recommendations and sales support.
- Address customer inquiries and ensure a positive shopping experience.
Product Knowledge: - Stay up-to-date on the store’s range of art supplies and stationery.
- Assist customers with product selection and demonstrate when necessary.
Stocking and Merchandising: - Help receive and unpack stock.
- Keep shelves stocked, organised, and appealing.
Cash Handling: - Operate the cash register and process transactions accurately.
Store Maintenance: - Maintain a clean and organised store.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
Compliance and Security: - Follow store policies, including theft prevention measures.
Requirements: - Matric required; further education in art fields is a bonus.
- Retail experience preferred, especially in similar roles.
- Familiarity with art supplies and creative materials is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to stand for long periods and handle some lifting.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including Saturday mornings.
- Basic computer skills for operating the cash register and inventory systems.
Availability:
Applicants must be available to work on Saturday mornings.

Job Title: Junior Content Creator & Marketing Asssistant
We’re hiring a Junior Content Creator & Marketing Assistant! The Deckle Edge is looking for a creative all-rounder to help with social media content, video editing using Veed, CapCut or Canva, newsletters and website product uploads. This is a contract role with the option to go permanent, perfect for someone who loves art, has basic design skills, lives near Woodstock or Salt River and wants to grow their career in marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Creating social media content (photos, videos, reels, stories)
• Editing videos using Veed, CapCut or Canva
• Designing basic graphics for posts, banners and emails
• Planning and scheduling content
• Writing captions and engaging with our community
• Assisting with email newsletters (Mailchimp)
• Uploading products to our website (WooCommerce)
• Helping brainstorm campaigns and promotions
• Supporting in-store content creation
• Tracking performance and reporting on engagement
What we’re looking for
• Experience editing videos in Veed, CapCut or Canva
• Passion for art and art supplies
• Some graphic design skills (Canva / Adobe a bonus)
• Strong interest in social media trends
• Comfortable with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube
• Good writing and communication skills
• Organised and detail-oriented
• Reliable and proactive
