Traditional oils, wonderful as they are, take a very long time to dry. Winsor & Newton Griffin Alkyds dry much more quickly and this means Impasto and Glazing techniques can be done in a single session. Griffins are a bit more fluid in consistency than traditional oils and they dry with a somewhat more reflective surface, too.
Scarlet Lake is a bright red with orange-yellow undertones. The name stems from a type of fine woollen cloth called scarlet cloth which was often dyed red, leading it to become the pigment’s name.
