Brush Lettering for Beginners with Robyn (25 April ’26)
Come and learn Brush Lettering with Robyn – brush lettering is a gorgeous, elegant modern calligraphy style that is perfect for cards, gift tags, journaling or adding to your arts and crafts. This is a beginners class but will also suit anyone who’s a little more advanced, or who has done one of Robyn’s beginners classes previously and wants to improve on their skills. You will be using brush markers to create a beautiful and stylish modern script. This class is perfect for left handed people so don’t let that put you off!
Date: Saturday,April 25th – 2026
Time: 9:00- 12:00 (3 hours)
Place: The Deckle Edge @ 13 Brickfield Road, Salt River
Workshop space is limited so booking is essential
Materials Supplied by Robyn:
- Tombow Fudenosuke black brush pen
- Rhodia paper
- Notes and practice sheets
- The use of all workshop equipment during the class
Materials Supplied by The Deckle Edge:
- All attendees will get 10% shopping coupon to shop in store on the day and light refreshments
Recommended age: All welcome from 12 years and up.
What you will learn:
- How to hold and use a brush pen
- Master the basic strokes to create letters
- Learn the lowercase and uppercase alphabet
- Learn how to connect the letters to create words
- How to add some flourishing to your brush lettering
About the facilitatior:
Robyn is a calligraphy and lettering teacher and handwriting coach based in Johannesburg, although she is originally from Cape Town. She has been teaching for over 20 years and specialises in teaching beginners. She believes that there is creativity in everyone and loves helping people start their creative journey! In addition to teaching calligraphy and lettering, Robyn works as a handwriting coach and has helped adults and children all over the world with their handwriting issues.
