gouache, and gold leaf, to create a sophisticated botanical painting. Part of this process is embracing
imperfection to create with authenticity.
What attendees will learn:
You will learn to approach the page with confidence, painting intuitively using a limited palette of acrylic inks,
white gouache and gold leaf, exploring botanical shapes, mark-making and layering to create your own
expressive botanical painting on paper.

Time: 9:00 – 12:30 (3.5 hours)
Place: The Deckle Edge @ 13 Brickfield Road, Salt River
Workshops space limited booking essential
All materials are included in the price and provided by me;
- Acrylic inks, white gouache, imitation gold leaf, leaf sizing
- 300 gsm watercolour paper – 5 x A4 pages pp
- Painting palettes, brushes, palette knives and water jars

About the facilitatior:
Isabel Crause is an artist and freelance writer based in Cape Town.
Isabel works mostly on original art and commissions for private clients, with work held in private collections worldwide. Her work explores themes of personal growth, resilience and self-expression. Isabel uses botanical themes, embracing abstraction and loose, expressive mark-making, to capture the raw energy of these human experiences.
She’s passionate about sharing knowledge and inspiring others to fulfil their creative potential.
