A guided, hands-on ink and watercolour class focused on combining ink (black), with a limited palette of watercolour and white gouache. The theme is abstract botanicals – leveraging the unique properties of these water-loving mediums.
What attendees will learn:
In this class heroing ink, you’ll learn how to use black ink alongside a limited watercolour palette and white gouache. We’ll talk about ink and watercolour properties, and how to best use them to their strengths. I’ll teach you intuitive, simple step-by-step techniques to create your abstract botanical painting.
Date: Saturday, 7 October – 2023
Time: 9:00 – 12:30 ( 3.5 hours)
Place: The Deckle Edge @ 13 Brickfield Road, Salt River
Workshops space limited booking essential
All materials are included in the price and provided by me;
• Brushes
• Palettes
• Water jars – 2 per person
• 5 sheets of A4 Primeart Cold Pressed watercolour paper (per person)
• Ink (black) / Watercolour paint (Winsor & Newton/Cotman) / White gouache (Winsor & Newton)
• A5 fine art print for each guest worth R350

About the facilitatior:
Isabel Crause is a self-taught artist and freelance writer working from her home studio in Cape Town. She specialises in watercolour and ink, using intuitive painting techniques to create vibrant abstract botanical art that brings interior spaces to life. Isabel works mostly on original art collections and commissions for private clients. She’s passionate about inspiring people to tap into their creativity and nurture their inner artists.
