SOLD OUT: Intuitive Line Drawing Workshop by Katherine Horn ( 8 June ’24)
A workshop on intuitive line drawing that will teach you how to trust your creative intuition, relax into the flow of drawing and explore how expressive lines can be.
Date: Saturday, 8th June – 2024
Time: 9:30 – 12:30 (3 hours)
Place: The Deckle Edge @ 13 Brickfield Road, Salt River
Workshops space limited booking essential
Includes all materials
I supply each student with Fabriano paper, a B pencil, a PILOT G-TEC C4 pen, a 0.05 Copic fineliner and an eraser.
You will also receive refreshments and a 10% Deckle shopping coupon for the day of the workshop
Recommended age: All welcome from 16 years and up.
What you will learn:
How to approach and structure compositions without constricting your natural drawing style. Learning to trust your creative intuition and explore how expressive ink line-work can be when you let go of what you think your drawing should look like.
By teaching the intuitive drawing process I will help you focus on the importance of what you are seeing, rather than what is on your page. You will be taught how to follow the lines you see, using your hand to imagining they are mimicking the shapes without looking at where your pen is moving. This process encourages an acceptance of potential “mistakes” so that they may be used to amplify one’s artistic voice. Within this, you will be taught how to organise your expressive line work into a pre-sketched composition so that your work can retain structure.
About the facilitatior:
Katherine Horn, an autistic illustrator from Cape Town with a B.A.F.A from Michaelis School of Fine Art. Has experience teaching workshops and sells her own line of vinyl stickers.
*If you need to cancel your workshop booking, please let us know by 11 a.m the weekday before the workshop. To help us support the facilitator, late cancellations will not be refunded. A credit for future events could be granted at our discretion.
