What attendees will learn:

Learn the art of quick watercolour sketching across diverse subjects and gain confidence in using watercolours as your medium through demonstration and practical exercises. 

Date: Saturday, 5 August – 2023
Time: 9:30 – 12:30 ( 3 hours)
Place: The Deckle Edge @ Cnr Clyde Street & Waterfront Drive, Knysna

Recommended materials to bring or purchase in-store; 

  • 1 x thick (No 8-14) round soft watercolour brush
  • 1 x Rigger +- no 2-6
  • Watercolour paints, tubes or pans. Colours are basic – we’ll mix.  Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Ultramarine blue, Yellow Ochre, Lamp black or Payne’s Grey, Van Dijk Brown or Sepia or Burnt Umber. (Suggested colours if you have or want to use your own from home)
  • Blow drier
  • Soft pencil (about 4B)
  • Black Waterproof sketching pen, 0.3mm – 0.8mm (V5 Hi-Techpoint, Faber Castell, etc)
  • Reference image or a photo of a landscape and of a bird that you would like to sketch/paint.
  • Apron
Materials supplied By The Deckle Edge:
  • A4 and A5 Watercolour Paper Sheets
  • A selection of Watercolour Paints

Recommended age: All welcome from 15 years and up.

About the facilitatior:

Fawa Conradie, a seasoned graphic designer and multi-media artist, brings years of expertise to our workshop. With a diverse range of passions including sketching, printmaking, and ceramics, Fawa’s artistic journey has spanned across various disciplines. Having conducted workshops in numerous mediums and locations throughout the Western Cape, including the prestigious Rupert Museum in Stellenbosch, Fawa has experience teaching students of all levels, from children to special needs groups. Benefit from Fawa’s extensive knowledge and join us for an inspiring workshop led by a true artistic master.   

If you need to cancel your workshop booking, please let us know by 11 a.m the weekday before the workshop. To help us support the facilitator, late cancellations will not be refunded. A credit for future events could be granted at our discretion.
