In this intuitive painting experience, you will work with acrylic paints, pencils and oil pastels – using your hands, brushes and other tools to create a unique abstract botanical painting on paper. The process involves letting go of perfection and embracing authenticity.

Date: Saturday, 29 March- 2025
Time: 9:00 – 12:30 (3.5 hours)

What you will learn:

You will learn to paint intuitively, using a limited colour palette to enhance creativity, with a variety of tools (including your hands, brushes, oil pastels, pencils and other materials) to create shapes, marks and effects – resulting in your own beautiful botanical painting on paper.

All materials are provided during the workshop, but remain the property of the instructor:

materials provided include:
•    Primeart Iris Acrylics
•    Oil pastels (Pentel)
•    Tools for creating (brushes, palette knives, spatulas, sponges, cloths, plastic tubs for mixing, etc)
•    Disposable gloves
•    Containers for water
•    Paper for practice
•    A4 & A2 paper sheets 300 gsm (PrimeArt) – 3 x A4 pp, 1 x A2 pp

Please bring old clothes and an apron. Recommended age: All welcome from 12 years and up.

About the facilitatior:

Isabel Crause is an artist and freelance writer, living and working in Cape Town.
Isabel works mostly on original art and commissions for private clients, with work held in private collections worldwide. She was among 20% successful applicants accepted to attend a prestigious art residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux in France during August 2024 – a transformative experience that has elevated her practice and process.
Her work explores themes of personal growth, resilience and self-expression. Isabel uses botanical themes, embracing abstraction and loose, expressive mark-making, to capture the raw energy of these human experiences.
She’s passionate about sharing knowledge and inspiring others to fulfil their creative potential.
