Join the renowned plein air artist Beth Lowe for an oil painting workshop, attendees will learn the basics needed to paint a still life from life in a painterly way using oils. 

Date: Saturday, October 22nd – 2022
Time: 9:30 – 12:30 (3 hours)
Place: The Deckle Edge @ 13 Brickfield Road, Salt River

Sudent will need to bring the following materials from home or purchased from The Deckle Edge; (Please come a little earlier if you need to top up on supplies all attendees will receive a 10% off coupon code on the day of the workshop)

• Oil paints at least 3 primaries Red, yellow, blue and burnt sienna.
•  4b or 6b pencil
• Sketch pad or paper
• Canvas 30x30cm
• Brushes some flats not too small,a filbert and a rigger
• Palette
• Palette knife
• Odorless turps
• Linseed oil
• Rags. 
• Apron
• Bring anything else that you normally use if you like. 

Recommended age: All welcome from 15 years and up.

What you will learn:

In this workshop, attendees will learn the basics needed to paint a still life from life in a painterly way using oils. 

You will be guided on how to observe and see values, composition and mixing colors using a limited palette. 

About the facilitatior:

Beth studied Fine Arts at Stellenbosch University and has painted in oils and water colours for many years. She has painted almost exclusively from life and is an avid pleinair painter. She’s taught at all school levels as well as running workshops for adults. She has won awards from SASA and exhibits regularly and has work in a number of galleries in the South Peninsula. She is also part of Open Studios Kommetjie.
