Truly Fantastic Stretcher 22mm – 900mm pair

Truly Fantastic Stretcher 22mm – 900mm pair

Now you can stretch your own canvas with the KENTANI stretcher bars, which are packed in pairs.
Select a pack of KENTANI stretcher bars for the width (top & bottom) and another pack for the height
(sides).

  • Choose the canvas or linen you prefer and remember to allow at least 5cm all round so that you can
wrap the sides and staple at the back of the frame.
  • To assemble the frame, just slot the corners together. No tools or glue are needed.
  • Check that your frame is ‘square’ by measuring diagonally from corner to corner, not by measuring
side to side. It’s square when both diagonals measure exactly the same.
  • When stretching, place the frame face down on top of the fabric. Then staple the canvas at the back in
the center of each bar. Always work on opposite sides. Alternating top and bottom, then the sides.
  • Working outwards from the center towards the corners, make sure to stretch the fabric equally as you
    go.
  • Keep checking that the frame is staying square and adjust if necessary.
  • When all sides are stretched, fold the corners over neatly and finish the stapling.
  • When you’re finished stretching push the wedges into the slots in the corners. You will have two
wedges in each corner (they came in the packs with the bars). This will stabilize the frame and can also be used to tension the canvas after painting, by tapping gently with a small hammer.
