Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Matte Varnish 75ml is a UV-resistant final varnish designed to protect oil paintings while giving them a soft, non-reflective matte finish. It is specially formulated for use with water-mixable oil colours, but it can also be used on traditional oil paintings once fully dry.
The Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Matte Varnish 75ml seals microscopic pores in the paint film to help protect against dirt, grease, and environmental wear. It is removable with Winsor & Newton Water Mixable Varnish Remover, allowing paintings to be cleaned and re-varnished in the future for conservation purposes. Winsor & Newton recommends applying it only after the painting has dried completely, typically after 6–12 months
