The exhibition will showcase the works of talented artists Lance Koury, Faith du Plessis, William Mwale, and Justin Lukas. Their diverse styles and captivating pieces promise to make this exhibition a must-see during the festival.

William Mwale Exhibits at The Deckle Edge

William Mwale’s artistic journey is a testament to the power of innate talent and self-driven learning. Forgoing traditional art schooling, he nurtured his abilities independently, drawing inspiration from the world around him and through an informal apprenticeship under esteemed Malawian artist Nyangu Chodola. This unique path allowed him to develop a distinct artistic voice, blending self-discovery with insightful guidance across mediums such as pencil, pastel, watercolour, and oil on canvas. His captivating body of work has resonated with audiences locally and internationally, showcased in prestigious galleries like Milkwood Gallery in Plettenberg Bay, Andy B Gallery in Sedgefield, and the luxurious Pezula Hotel in Knysna. Additionally, his art has been displayed at the Junction Hotel in Plettenberg Bay and celebrated by collectors at La Carvena, La Galleria, Central Africana, and Nyanja Art Studio. Crossing borders, Mwale’s creations have reached enthusiasts in Zambia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, China, Ghana, and Japan.

Notably, he has made his mark at annual exhibitions such as the Wildlife & Environmental Society of Malawi (WESM) exhibition and the National Art Expo, where his unique works have captivated audiences and patrons alike.

Justin Lucas exhibits at The Deckle Edge Knysna

Justin Lucas is a Visual Artist. Born in the small coastal town of Knysna and raised on a forest station
located deep in the woods. Having creative parents is what inspired him to explore and always be
curious about the world around him. He went on to study at the NMU and received his master
degree in Fine Art. His career is very much still in its infancy and yet he has participated in
exhibitions and art competitions, very recently placed in the top 40 of the Sanlam Portrait Awards
2023 in South Africa.

Lance Khoury exhibits at The Deckle Edge

Lance studied Fine Art at Port Elizabeth Technicon, majoring in printmaking.with ceramics and photography.
After working in England for a few years, he developed an interest in the decorative arts, specialist paint finishes, decorative furniture and also digital art.

Since moving to Knysna in 1997 he has developed a keen interest in all aspects of painting and drawing. Some of his current favourite mediums are acrylic for murals, oil painting, charcoal and pastel drawing as well watercolour and digital painting.

Lance has painted numerous public and private murals in Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Wilderness and completed a number of private commissions in oil painting.
His primary interest is figurative work and portraits but he enjoys painting a variety of subjects including still life and landscape.

Faith du Plessis exhibits at The Deckle Edge

Faith du Plessis is a prominent artist based in Knysna, renowned for her vibrant oil paintings that reflect her bold personality. After studying Fashion Design at Pretoria Technicon in 1992, she pursued her passion for painting and has since established herself in the local art scene. Faith’s eclectic style is influenced by the people she meets and the artefacts she collects, and her work spans oil painting, creative sewing, and ceramics. She operates The Art House Knysna, where she teaches art classes and coordinates community projects like the Unblocked Challenge, showcasing her dedication to fostering creativity in others
