A huge thank you goes out to everyone who voted for us and to our amazing staff whose dedication and hard work made this possible. We were also lucky enough to chat to the presenters on air, something they don’t always do for Bronze winners, which made it feel even more special. This recognition inspires us to keep raising the bar and with your continued support we’ll strive to bring home the gold next year!

How we heard this amazingly good news
The day before yesterday, my husband and I were driving back to The Deckle Edge after a meeting and happened to have KFM playing in the background at the exact moment the presenter said they were about to reveal the finalists for Best Neighbourhood Store in the KFM Best of the Cape Awards. I held my breath as they started reading as this is the only category that could apply to us. They read the first three names and then I heard it… “The Deckle Edge in Salt River.”
My heart started pounding. I screamed. Loudly and high-fived Peter. The kind of scream you cannot hold back when something really matters. It felt like we had already won. Without even thinking, I grabbed my phone and sent a WhatsApp to our team WhatsApp group to share the news because anyone who knows us knows it is our team and our service that make The Deckle Edge special.
When we walked back into the shop, I could not help myself. I started hugging everyone. This nomination means so much to me and to our whole team. It is proof that what we are building here together is being felt and recognised in our community all thanks to your support and loyalty throughout the years.
What Happens if We Win
If we take home the title of Best Neighbourhood Store in Cape Town, we will celebrate with a storewide SALE as our way of saying thank you. We will, of course, spoil all our hard-working staff members with some lovely and delicious eats and drinks, which we will happily do whether we win or lose.
