Why our Woodstock Branch is Moving!

It’s Spring – a time for bringing in the new, and bidding farewell to the old. So it’s the perfect moment to talk a bit about our upcoming move to brand spanking new premises!

We’ve loved being at our current spot; the perfect borderline between the hustle of the CBD and creative enterprise of Woodstock. We’ve made so many new friends and customers! Along with them has come the need for fresh products and brands as we’ve grown alongside the creatives of Cape Town; expanding our offering as students, artists, designers and crafters have expanded their creative horizons.

The last five years have been all about learning and growth, and now we prepare to grow into our next adventure. The lease on our current space in Sir Lowry Road has come to an end. Our landlord has a few offers for the sale of the space and we were faced with a very tough decision. Do we stay, with the uncertainty of not knowing if and when we might be uprooted, or do we find a new home and resettle?

We opted for the latter, for two major reasons – certainty that where we are going will be a long-term move, and the fact that we’ll be moving into a brand new development (at 13 Brickfield Road, Salt River) so we have a shiny new space to call home! For customers who are familiar with our current premises you will know how exciting this is for us. Along with this new home, we will also be holding exciting new brands and we will be launching an awesome in-store project (more about this super-cool initiative in the coming weeks).

Five years ago, when we moved from Roodebloem Road to Sir Lowry Road we were filled with apprehension and wondered, “What if no-one follows us?” That fear was quickly put to rest by the most amazing support from all you wonderful people out there, who have made The Deckle Edge the success it is today. On behalf of every single one of The Deckle Edge team; THANK YOU! We are seriously looking forward to this next adventure and we hope you are too.

Here’s to new beginnings. Happy Spring!

You’re moving just as we were getting to know you better! Until when will the Woodstock branch be open, or have you closed already?

    • MeganReply

      Hi Lynsey

We will be open at our current location (130 Sir Lowry Road) until 22 October, and then will open again at 13 Brickfield Road on 1 November.

      See you soon!

Yes, that’s in Salt River just off the Main Road. The Upper East Side/Double Tree Hilton hotel complex is in the same road.

      Hi Barbara

What a pity! We’ve moved to 13 Brickfield Road in Salt River and we’re open until 5 on weekdays and 1 on Saturdays, so please do pop in and pay us a visit soon. We actually do stock Liquitex Pouring Medium and are expecting our next shipment about the end of next week. Would you like us to perhaps send you an email when it arrives and let you know the price? Our last shipment was priced at R308.40 for 237 ml – if the supplier price has changed this might go up slightly, however if their price is the same then ours will also remain at that amount.

      See you soon,
      The Deckle Edge Team

    Good morning

I was so suprised when I saw that you guys are not in Woodstock anymore, but this morning I remembererd to make that call to ask where you moved too. Im glad that you did not move to far out and that you are still in the main road.

Question please: Do you sell Hessing material☺hope the name is spelled right and how much is it a meter please?

Thank you for your wonderful service that I got when ever I pop in by you guys for my paper or anything else I was looking for.

      Hi Janap

I’m so glad you found our new store – as you say, it’s not too far from our previous location. We don’t sell hessian unfortunately – you might be able to source it from Cape Twines & Packaging which is also in this area.

Please do let us know if we can be of assistance in any other way.

      Warm regards

    Thanks for a great store.
However your crafty map doesn’t show Main Road or which way is town so people coming can orient ourselves.

    • MeganReply

      Hi Hugh

Thanks for your message. Our map showed all the details in real life, it’s just that the photo for this blog post couldn’t encapsulate the entire map as it was so huge! 🙂 If you have any difficulty in finding our premises, please let us know. If you’re coming from Main Road, you turn up Brickfield Road (towards the mountain) and then our building, Brickworks, is at number 13 Brickfield Road. It’s on your left just after BuCo. There is a free parking lot just after Brickworks, also on your left.

Warm regards and have a lovely day
